I just wished that I had thought better this step

I had silicone implts 4 yrs ago (pip). Since I have been adviced to remove them I'm considering to remove them for good. Still thinking about the implications of surgery and I believe I don't want to go through this every 10 years. I have to find another PS cause the original dr. was a total disaster!!!!I just wished that I had thought better this step.

Very nervous to go back to my original (very small size) but I want to start a family and don't want to expose my health anymore. My husband very supportive in whatever I decide. I just hope that any woman considering breast implant take her time to really think If she is going to be ok with having surgery every 10yrs, and what will happen if she dosen't get the result she was hoping for in the first place.

Since I'm 32, no children, implants just 4 yrs and my weight steady, hopefully I won't need a lift, just waiting to read more and get at least 3 drs. comments.

Moni.

I first had my breast implants implanted 15yrs ago when I was 20. A second operation was performed in 2001 which used PIP implants - I was told this by my surgeon just before Christmas. On Monday (9th Jan '12) the ultrasound scan revealed they're both leaking. I was also informed I will need some lymph nodes removing as they're enlarged. All I want is to have the implants removed, however, I'm worried there will be a lot of excess skin left which may cause me to have body issues yet again - I had them done in the first place because of this. I feel very alone and scared. I feel the government and some private clinics aren't taking enough responsibility. There needs to be tighter regulations for the approval of these medical devices and follow up screenings so that the manufacturers don't change to cheaper ingredients after they've been approved. I feel the MHRA who initially approved the PIP implants have 'passed the buck' and the Department of Health also aren't willing to take some financial responsibility. Why should I pay £3500 to have them removed or if I so wished to have them removed and replaced at the private clinic who conducted the original operation? I went to a reputable surgeon based in Harley Street and am expected to pay for this... Doesn't the government receive taxes from the private clinics? Don't the private clinics/ government have insurance policies for such mishaps? None of this makes sense. My heart and thoughts go out to everyone who is also in a similar situation.

Hi,

I am 27 and had PIP implants done 4 years ago. To be honest I like how they look but I have been thinking about removing them without replacement. I have never experienced any pain so hopefully they haven't rupture. No matter what, I need to taken them out. I will be having a scan in a couple of days and I will know then. I am scared of being too flat again...I went from a cup A to a cup B. The first doctor I saw said that I won't need a lift since the increase in size wasn't much but that I will look really flat. I know doctors tend to do that so they could get more money I guess but becasue of my original size they may not even sag after removal.
What I was most afraid of is that I would have to go through this in another 10 years; however this doctor said I don't need to. He said the FDA approved are for lifetime and may be replaced only if needed.
Anybody with a similar story? You girls seem to have had my age when you got the implants.
