Breast Implant Removal

After 7 years one of the implants has leaked

I had saline implants done in 2004. I was a B cup and wanted to have bigger breasts. I had surgery and turned out to be a 34D. I did not experience any problems throughout the years and even though I knew that eventually I would have to have them replaced, I though it would be at least 20 years. Well, now after 7 years one of the implants has leaked and now I have a smaller breast. I consulted with my surgeon and he told me that the manufacturer would replace and also pay a portion of the surgery.

Government and some private clinics aren't taking enough responsibility.

I first had my breast implants implanted 15yrs ago when I was 20. A second operation was performed in 2001 which used PIP implants - I was told this by my surgeon just before Christmas. On Monday (9th Jan '12) the ultrasound scan revealed they're both leaking. I was also informed I will need some lymph nodes removing as they're enlarged. All I want is to have the implants removed, however, I'm worried there will be a lot of excess skin left which may cause me to have body issues yet again - I had them done in the first place because of this. I feel very alone and scared.

France advises 30,000 to have breast implants removed

PARIS (Reuters) - The French government urged 30,000 women in France on Friday to seek removal of defective breast implants that a now-defunct company exported worldwide but it said there was no evidence that the product raised the risk of cancer.
The government said public healthcare funds would be used to finance the removals, which were recommended because of the risk of ruptures that could cause inflammation and irritation, at a cost which health officials estimated at 60 million euros.

Hello, I just celebrated 19 weeks since my explant surgery and I could not be happier. It was the best choice I could have made. I also had very severe capsular contracture twice just like you but on my left side. I had revision surgery with a new implant put in and it didn't help, it came back. It got very, very bad and got so painful. I was very stressed out about it and it bothered me how I looked and how I felt. I was worried every night that it might rupture inside of me and worried about the capsular contracture, the implant was so hard and my whole chest hurt.
